Shoe Review: Merrell Trail Glove

Merrell recently introduced to the Philippine market their Barefoot Collection and I was lucky enough to win a pair of their segment for trails, the Trail Glove.  At first glance it looks like a regular pair, but given its name with a matching Vibram name on its sole, it had got to be much more than that!  And so the trails of Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna became the testing ground for this pair’s review.

Running on Credits

I think everyone will agree with me when I say that racing these days is getting quite expensive.  When I started racing more than two years ago, it was still practical to race every weekend, but lately you’d have to get some dough to do that!  With a number of races having registration fees going beyond ₱1,000, gone are the days of spontaneous registration!  (Who has a spare thousand bucks on their wallet all the time?)

Two years ago, this amount was enough for a month’s worth of races

Timing Chips: Obsolete?!

Technology really runs fast!  I can still remember the day when ChampionChips were still the “in” thing when it comes to races in the Philippines!  Just as we’re getting used to D-Tags, now comes another tech to replace it.  Of course this innovation can only be expected from Runrio:

The Tales from the Valley Trail (Challenge)

I’ve ran onto the routes of Nuvali before, both on and off-road, and honestly I find it a bit boring especially when compared to natural trails of the mountains—until Valley Trail came along!  It was a race with a lot of firsts, including my first DNF!

Rexona Run and an Adventure That Won’t Let You Down

Rexona Run is back once again as the fourth leg of the Runrio Series.  With the success of last year’s leg Rexona had a difficult time of outdoing themselves, and this year they came up with something new.

“Cross-Dressing”

By all means I’m not a shoe expert (nor is claiming to be) but I was asked lately by a woman if she could wear men’s shoes.  It’s not much of a vanity reason; it’s just that her feet are bigger than the typical women’s shoe sizes—a problem that apparently the local market fails to address.

Androgynous shoe designs make for a complicated world :D

Wear the Flag Proudly: the 113th Philippine Independence Day

June 12, 2011 is the 113th Independence Day of Asia’s first Republic, the Philippines, and one of the most visual ways of showing our patriotism is through the proud display of our national flag.  But as per my observations, there are many who are still unaware on its proper display so before we start getting creative in displaying our national symbol, here are some protocols we must observe:

Makati Route #2

I guess I wasn’t that satisfied with my first Makati-based run so the following night I was again out on the streets and seeking a new route.  This time around it’s a notch longer and ending on a different spot.

For this night’s run I decided to pick a different spot to end my run—different but still familiar like the night before.  This night, I thought I miss Ortigas Center, so I decided to head towards the area, perfect fit as I seek a slightly longer route.  The big question of course was which route to pick among a myriad of options?  In the end here’s the outcome:
