Has anyone seen a knitted shoe before? Well I haven’t, until this latest innovation from Nike came along, the Flyknit:
According to Nike, the Flyknit Racer’s upper and tongue weigh just 34 grams (1.2 ounces)! The whole shoe weighs a mere 160g (5.6 ounces) for a size 9, 19% lighter than the Nike Zoom Streak 3, a shoe worn by first, second and third place athletes in the men’s marathon at the 2011 World Championships. At this weight it is practically the same weight at Vibram’s FiveFingers which is a minimalist shoe. And despite being knitted like a scarf, it really looks cool!
Aren’t you just drooling with excitement with this shoe?

Dennis, I’ve heard quite a bit about the shoe here in S.F. lately and it’s likely to come out later this year. Thanks for sharing.
