I seldom do a behind-the-scenes post about event launches, but for the recent launch of Powerade Ion4, I am willing to make an exemption because I had my first ever “podium-finish!”

All good things come to an end, and after an interesting side trip to Hong Kong it’s time for us to return to Macau, and later on, back home.

Cebu City Marathon 2011 holds my record for my fastest marathon so breaking my course record would also mean a new personal best—what a pressure! On a lighter note, merely completing CCM will finally take me across my first 3,000 kilometers. Will I be able to break my previous record, or will I just break a leg? That’s what went through my mind, and this was what went on with the race.

All set for the race
One of my most eagerly awaited event to jumpstart my year has arrived, the Cebu City Marathon. Flying in on a Saturday afternoon gave me just enough time to claim my kit, do my last grocery shopping, and eat all I can—wait, uhm, yeah, eat all I can!

Departing from NAIA Terminal 3: We used the sky bridge which led us down to a bus: “Riding a bus. More fun in the Philippines.”
After two years of staying home, a lot of first and seconds in my life became a reality, including my first time in China’s Special Administrative Regions (SAR) Macau and Hong Kong, and my second international marathon with the Galaxy Entertainment Maratona Internacional de Macau (Macau Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon). Here’s the story of our departure from Manila and chilly arrival in Macau.

True, I already did ultramarathons in the past, but this year’s Run United 3 was my first ever 32K race. Unfortunately though I came to race partially injured because I had thought I’d missed it.

Shoes are probably the only piece of equipment that running entails—and strictly speaking, even that is optional! After more than two years of running, here’s how my shoe collection looked like.
Some of the gears in my arsenal
The love for travel must be in my blood as I suddenly realized, without much effort, that I had scheduled a travel practically every month for the second half of the year, both local and international! And of course most of these revolve around the sport I love, running.

But where to?
At long last I was finally able to get back to regular racing, and staging this comeback was with the Yamaha Run for Heroes held last July 03, 2011 at Bonifacio Global City. it may “just” be a half-marathon, but it was a race of different caliber.
