Cebu City Marathon 2011 holds my record for my fastest marathon so breaking my course record would also mean a new personal best—what a pressure! On a lighter note, merely completing CCM will finally take me across my first 3,000 kilometers. Will I be able to break my previous record, or will I just break a leg? That’s what went through my mind, and this was what went on with the race.

After running a full marathon you’d expect that we’d just stay in our rooms to rest, but no way! We’re in Macau in some very cool, nice weather so rest will have to wait! Here’s where our feet took us some time after our races.

December 04, 2011, the day of my second marathon outside the Philippines and my first road race below 15°c. I could’ve come more prepared but things don’t always happen according to plan so the goal was simple: to have fun and finish within cutoff!

December 03, 2011: the day before our big race, Macau Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon, and also our first full day in Macau. Our brains tell us we should rest, but our feet tell us otherwise so relatively early in the morning we were up for a tour.
As a runner, nothing beats souvenirs like these:
Watch out for my story of our adventures in Macau and our side trip to Hong Kong soon! For the mean time, congratulations to all those who also finished their respective races last weekend!

Week 1: Getting started
The love for travel must be in my blood as I suddenly realized, without much effort, that I had scheduled a travel practically every month for the second half of the year, both local and international! And of course most of these revolve around the sport I love, running.

Boston, Massachusetts is thousands of miles away from Manila, but the running highs that were set during the recent Boston Marathon were so contagious I can feel it all the way here! The highlight of the event of course was the 2:03:02 time set by Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai—the world’s fastest ever, but not the world record!
