I seldom do blog posts about event launches (since my intention is to focus on the event itself, not the launch) but every so often an event launch comes along worthy of one, and that “one” being the recent launch of this year’s second leg of Run United.

A heightened experience welcomed the members of the media and other guests during the grand launch of Riovana held last February 17, 2012. Owned by the running industry’s frontliner Coach Rio De La Cruz, the event demarcated the formal unveiling of this one-stop-shop that provides a different high to runners and enthusiasts alike by enlightening them about the right tools, techniques and other know-hows regarding running so they can transcend from being ordinary to extraordinary runners.
It was an evening of pure delight last night at Decagon Silver City as those who have completed all three required legs of the Run United Trilogy were recognized. It’s an event that was so overwhelmingly positive that even critics and detractors alike were all smiles and forgot their rants!
A different high was experienced by each and every visitor of the newly opened concept store Riovana, the brainchild of Rio dela Cruz, more popularly known as Coach Rio, a prominent figure in the running industry. Wanting to give professional runners and enthusiasts a heightened experience before, during and after each race, Coach Rio came up with the idea of combining a retail store that becomes a one-stop shop for all running gears, apparels and shoes with facilities that can allow members to hang out in the lounge area, register for marathons and even freshen up before and after each race through its available locker and shower rooms.
I’m not just making this up or saying this figuratively, really did ran with Mr. Piolo Pascual and Coach Rio dela Cruz, literally! This was during this weekend’s Timex Run 2012 which was one of my most memorable and fun races of all time. And oh, the official race results are also out.
Presenting the latest brainchild of Coach Rio de la Cruz: Riovana: The Sole of Running.
We were lucky to be able to “gatecrash” while its first store is being prepped up for its soft opening. For those who are already excited to know where the first branch is, it is located at 9th Ave corner 28th Street, Bonifacio Global City, and today is it’s soft opening! Watch out for updates about this exciting new store for runners!
Congratulations Coach Rio! We look forward to all the products, services, and surprises your new venture will provide to the running community!
Today is the first day of claiming Nike We Run Manila race kits, and I’d say I’m impressed that the runners didn’t wait for the last day before claiming their kits as attested by the big turnout even before the collection opened. Here are some scenes from the first day:
It was an unprecedented week as for the first time I had three consecutive days of various running-related events, all centered on RunRio! It’s like a blog-a-thon of sorts which kind of make it hard for me to keep up with all the info and share it with you guys.
Have you seen this month’s issue of Runner’s World (Philippines) magazine?
I missed the first issue (I’m not really much into reading, much less into magazines) and this one is my first copy of the magazine. A friend of mine told me what’s inside that’s why I got myself a copy (included with this month’s issue of Men’s Health and Women’s Health magazine). If you have one, turn to page 36!
That was me, Chris, and Que (left) as part of Team Runner’s World during this year’s Globe Run for Home promoting the launch of RW Philippines Magazine. On the bottom right is none other than Coach Rio dela Cruz, the maiden issue’s cover.
Thank you Runner’s World and Summit Media for including our pictures!
