The premier marathon event in the country, the Condura Skyway Marathon Run for the Mangroves 2013 goes to the starting line on February 03, 2013 in Filinvest City, Alabang. It will be the curtain-raiser for the new running year of 2013—perfect timing for those who are serious in getting back to form after the long series of holidays and merry-making and for those who finally would like to get off that couch and find the fun and fulfilment in running.

The Run United Trilogy were really meant as training grounds for those aiming to run longer distances, but this year the trilogy went even further by staging their own “holy grail” of running events, forty two kilometers and a hundred ninety five meters of road—a full marathon! And it is to be called the Run United Philippine Marathon.

Running had become the “it” sport in urban centers in the Philippines these past few years with races achieving “world-class” levels, and if I were to pick three amongst the best in the country, the list would look something like this:

That’s what went through my mind, and this was what went on with the race.

All set for the race

Torre de Macau (Macau Tower): one of Macau’s most prominent landmarks is part of the route. On the background is another feature of the route, Ponte de Sai Van (Sai Van Bridge). Taken near Grand Lisboa Hotel.
December 03, 2011: the day before our big race, Macau Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon, and also our first full day in Macau. Our brains tell us we should rest, but our feet tell us otherwise so relatively early in the morning we were up for a tour.
